ARTIST STATEMENT ABOUT THIS PIECE OF THE STUDIO This piece comes from a period of experimentation using brown paper bag paper as the surface, drawn to its warmth, texture, and imperfections. I explored how a mix of mediums including paint and charcoal would interact with the paper, allowing each material to respond differently to the surface. The rawness of the paper shows through the marks, becoming an active part of the work rather than just a background. This piece reflects a hands-on, exploratory approach, where layering, texture, and contrast guide the process and the materials help shape the final expression.
